A Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) is someone with specialized training and certification in the care of patients with Diabetes. Eligibility requires the appropriate undergraduate certification, 2 years of caring for Diabetic patients and passing an exam. Once certified by The National Certification Board of Diabetes Educators, completing annual continuing education credits is part of the life-long learning requirement. Nicole Cunningham, MS, RD, CDE
Nicole Cunningham is Certified in Diabetes Education by the National Certification Board of Diabetes Educators. She is a registered Dietitian with a Masters Degree in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Arkansas. She enjoys translating the science of nutrition into the art of great eating! Nicole provides education and counseling to people with Type 1 DM, Type 2 DM, Gestational Diabetes, Pre Diabetes and weight loss. Patients benefit from her having more than 25 years of experience!
Nicole is certified as an Insulin Pump Trainer. She is certified in the Medtronic, Omnipod and Tandem pumps. As an expert in the field of Diabetes, she works with a team of providers at Endocrine Associates of Dallas to help provide all aspects of Diabetes education and care. She works with patients in the management of their diabetes, using the latest technology to help them achieve optimal blood glucose control. Her passion is to empower patients to have control over their diabetes. She also is adept with current continuous glucose monitoring systems: Medtronic, Dexcom and Libre.
Nicole enjoys spending time with her husband, 2 children and 2 dogs. She moved to Dallas after living in Charlotte, North Carolina for 20 years. She enjoys traveling, exercise (especially yoga), and gardening.
Whitney R. Stuart MCN, RD, LDN and CDE
Whitney Stuart is a board certified clinical dietitian-nutritionist. She has undergraduate degrees in Physiology & Medical Studies from Southern Methodist University and obtained her Masters of Clinical Nutrition from UT Southwestern.
Understanding the challenges for making lifestyle changes, she seeks to find ways to help her patients can make small yet, impactful long-term changes without entertaining the latest fad diet. Ms. Stuart remains abreast of the latest research and enjoys implementing new technologies (pump and continuous glucose devices) that assist in better patient outcomes. Providing patient-centered care that is individualized to each patient’s unique needs, results in improved patient outcomes.
Ms. Stuart grew up in Washington; home of the Tulip Festival, Whale Watching, Boeing, Microsoft and yes; lots of rain. She is married to her college sweetheart, Chase, a lead software engineer for ISA. They spend most weekends sipping on cold brew and running; both on the Katy Trail and along the San Diego shoreline.
